Inspiration and creation

This project is brought to life by a diverse artistic team composed of the Albéniz Trio, playwright Alberto Trijueque, choreographer Marta Nogal, and the technical support of Tala Producciones. The initiative originates from the Albéniz Trio itself, under the direction of Paula Brizuela and Javier Rameix.

Essentia is a stage production that blends contemporary dance, Spanish dance, live chamber music, and dramaturgy. Inspired by the figure of La Argentinita, the piece unfolds a singular narrative exploring the fragility of the human condition.

The project brings together multiple artistic disciplines to create an interdisciplinary performance aimed at delivering an innovative program that showcases spanish talent and draws upon the legacy of great composers such as Albéniz, Granados, Turina, Falla and original music, as well as the story of the iconic dancer La Argentinita.

Its purpose is to break away from the traditional concert format and offer a scenic experience in which dance, music, and dramaturgy intertwine, speaking a shared artistic language.

Artistic vision

This project presents a hybrid piece that intertwines contemporary and spanish dance, live chamber music, and dramaturgy, where the body becomes the central protagonist—a space in which memory, illness, and physical endurance converge to provoke the viewer and invite them into an intimate, live confession.

Taking La Argentinita as a mythical figure in the history of dance, we delve into her biography and the universal impulse to keep moving when everything seems to be falling apart.

The performance unfolds through the music of Falla, Albéniz, Granados, and Turina—composers associated with the Spanish musical nationalism of the late 19th century—as well as original compositions. Beyond telling a story of resilience, the piece seeks to celebrate and elevate the Spanish musical heritage.

Musicians and dancers interact on stage, narrating the story through dramaturgy, while pushing the boundaries of their respective disciplines. The result is a bold departure from the traditional concert format—a unique, innovative experience for the audience.
